More than 40 proposals were submitted to SPORs ’Call for proposals’. Composers and artists from all over the world – Japan, Turkey, Chile, Latvia, Spain a.o. – have send in ideas for sound installations, music theatre, ensemble pieces, electronic performances...
The 5 jury members (Joanna Bailie, Simon Steen-Andersen, Lars Petter-Hagen, Sarah Nicolls and Carsten Seiffarth) have now selected the 5 proposals that will be realized and presented at SPOR festival 2010. These are:
- ’Shouting’, a concept with a social dimension for an acoustic intervention in a crowded public space, by David Helbich (DE)
- ’RETINAn’, a performance for piano, live video and electronics, by Kasia Glowicka (NL//PL) & Emmanuel Flores Elías (NL//MX)
- ‘Paganini non ripete’, a music theatrical piece performed by the artist himself, by Kaj Aune (DK/NO)
- A performance piece for ensemble and the two artists where the ideas of magic, chaos, notation and performance will be explored, by Páll Ivan Pálsson (IS) & Monika Frycová (CZ)
- ’SubAqua’, a public site-specific sound installation, by Åsa Stjerna (SE)
SPOR festival is inviting composers and sound artists to submit a proposal for a new work to be realized at SPOR 2010.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING: 3th December 2009
FEE FOR REALIZING THE PROPOSAL: 1.000 €
The proposal may describe a wide range of projects, from works for
ensemble and music theatre pieces to sound installations. This year the
festival is focusing on the presentation of work that in some way
reveals to us something about contemporary music and its cultural
environment. The proposal should reflect the theme of the festival.
This might be realized through creating a one-to-one relationship with
another art form or simply by presenting music in a manner that
highlights its context. We are looking for proposals that ask questions
about what it means to make new music today and by extension, what it
could possibly become in the future.
WHAT TO SEND:
• Maximum 2 pages of text (as PDF) describing one work that you wish
to create and realize at the SPOR festival 2010 + video or sound file
sketches (optional).
• CV
• 2-3 examples of work from the last 5 years as sound or video
files. Accompanying scores in PDF format are also welcome (but optional)
WHERE TO SEND IT: info@sporfestival.dk (we recommend that sound and
