SPOR New Music School

SPOR New Music School is a creative composition course for music school and cultural school students in Central Denmark Region aged between 12 and 16, who wish to try their hand at working with music in new, creative ways and even help invent it.

Young people are given the opportunity to meet composers and musicians, to experience SPOR festival and – not least – to explore new musical and instrumental forms of expression and have a go at composing.

During the course, the young people are guided and accompanied in the world of imagination by composition students from Danish and Nordic Music Academies and musicians from Ensemble NJYD.

Why SPOR New Music School? 

SPOR wants to inspire children and young people to be curious, to create, listen to and perform new and experimental music and sound art. We believe that it is important to start the creative process as a supplement to playing an instrument, so that creativity and musicality can go hand in hand.

At SPOR New Music School, you do not work alone, but in groups. Each group has a composition student as mentor and a professional musician as supervisor. Together with SNMS' educational leader, Østen Mikal Ore, they ensure momentum, support and a good amount of creative work.
